| Description: | The Round Top festival is held on the beautiful Festival Institute campus by the village of Round Top, Texas (mid-way between Austin and Houston). Part pastoral retreat of extraordinary serenity and part world-class fine arts center for study and performance, the campus each spring hosts a gathering of readers, writers, students, and friends in a close community of sharing and discovery. Leading American poets have been our guest speakers over the past eight years, including W.S. Merwin, Carolyn Forche, Mark Doty, Li-Young Lee, Marie Howe, Tony Hoagland, and many others. A full weekend schedule combines featured readings, optional workshops, fine arts performances, a participant reading, social events, a published anthology of attendees' work, as well as quiet time to relax in this magnificent setting. |
