Description: Now in its 22nd year, The University of Iowa Summer Writing Festival is a short term, noncredit writing program for adults. Iowa City and The University of Iowa have long been a haven for writers. The University is the home of the Iowa Writers' Workshop, the Nonfiction Writing Program, the Playwrights Workshop, the International Writing Program, the Translation Program, and the Iowa Young Writers' Studio.

The Festival offers 130 workshops across the spectrum of literary genres, including novel, short fiction, poetry, essay, memoir, travel, humor, playwriting, writing for children, and more. All levels. The Festival is open to writers 21 and over. Registrations are accepted on a first-come first-served basis. There are no requirements beyond the desire to write.
