| Description: | Welcome to Costa Rica Writers' Retreats at Docelunas 4-star resort, an eco-friendly, tranquil oasis on Costa Rica's Pacific coast. Our writers' retreat will reawaken your senses and creativity. Write, listen to one another read aloud, and give feedback underneath a palm thatched roof, with the aromas of your next meal prepared by a master chef infusing the air. Sit on your private porch and work on that novel chapter you've been struggling with all winter. Climb the steps to the yoga studio overlooking the gardens and rejeuvante with a bellydance or yoga class; Docelunas has the only certified Bikram yoga studio at a hotel in the world. Give yourself the gift of space and your imagination the recharge of an environment teeming with artistic stimulation: scarlet macaws, toucans, and blue butterflies. Week-long retreats taking place in May and June of 2009 will be led by Vanessa Blakeslee, Vermont College MFA in Writing graduate and Amherst Writers & Artists Affiliate. The retreat team will include Vermont College faculty Robin Hemley, Xu Xi and Sue Silverman. Writers working in all genres and from all levels of experience are welcome. Several times a day we will come together to write from exercises offered which follow the Amherst Writers workshop method (AWA), as well as produce new work in themed workshops throughout the week. Craft talks will be given on several evenings after dinner. Daily breaks allow for optional excursions to beautiful Punta Leona beach, Carara National Park, and Playa Hermosa. Your time is your own to write, relax, explore, reconnect with others...and yourself. Join us. Join us for a week-long retreat, 8 days/7 nights, on any of the following weeks: May 16th to 23rd: Xu Xi and Vanessa Blakeslee May 23rd to 30th: Xu Xi, Sue Silverman and Vanessa Blakeslee May 30th to June 6th: Robin Hemley, Sue Silverman and Vanessa Blakeslee June 6th to June 13th: Vanessa Blakeslee and Special Guest, TBA YOUR PACKAGE INCLUDES: 8 days, 7 nights, shared accommodations; three daily meals at Docelunas, prepared by a culinary institute-trained chef; two to three daily writing sessions; all instruction and materials; themed workshops and talks on craft and publishing by widely published and award-winning retreat leaders; all transfers from San Jose airport to and from San Jose airport to Docelunas Resort (does not include airfare, special excursions, trip insurance or gratuities) Cost: $2195.00. $500 non-refundable deposit required to hold space.
