Description: In the heart of Umbria, halfway up the slopes of Mount Subasio, lies Assisi.  A town remarkably rich in priceless art treasures, its medieval character has been maintained and can still be discovered in the the narros streets and squares.  In this special environment, Art Workshop International offers a series of creative courses that make your sojourn in Italy an unforgettable experience.

Art Workshop International celebrates its 29th summer in Italy!  Under the direction of Edith Isaac-Rose and Bea Kreloff, artists and writers are invited to join committed adults in an atmosphere of serious study and enjoyable play.

Besides Frank McCourt, past teachers and visiting artists include Dorothy Allison, Michael Cunningham, Marilyn French, Vivian Gornick, Maxine Hong Kingston, Tony Kushner, and Grace Paley.  Classes are five days a week with two days off for day trips.  Participants are encouraged to stay on for another two-week session or spend an extra week in Assisi to continue their study/relaxation independently.

Professional writers and artists are invited to be in our Independent Program.  Other courses include Italian Language and a Culinary Course.
